Designing for a product category like wall chargers is a unique and fascinating challenge. It's an incredibly crowded space, with hundreds of brands each offering countless variations. Compounding this, is the fact that differentiating through technology is nearly impossible—any new advancement is quickly commoditized and available to almost all manufacturers. That leaves styling, quality, and pricing as the primary levers to work with. Unfortunately, this often leads to a race to the bottom, resulting in uninspired and forgettable products.
A quick glance at the current crop of wall chargers reveals two dominant design camps: the white, minimalist Apple-inspired aesthetic, and the darker, masculine Anker style.
With the Profile charging line, our goal was to create a wall charger that could feel precise and powerful, yet also elegant and warm. Drawing inspiration from high-end automotive interiors, we crafted a design that blends sophisticated textures, premium materials, and refined accents.
The result is a product that reflects both its advanced technology as well as its meticulous craftsmanship.
